Letterpress editions by John Booth and Simon Goode. The prints were created at LCBA in 2024 using the Vandercook SP-15 proof presses.

The starting point for the edition of MANUAL prints is a chunky, late 19th century wood letter from the LCBA's collection – a 20-line pica Antique, or Egyptian, serif, which has been printed and over-printed in no fewer than four colours. Additional layers of hand-set typographic borders, ornaments and fleurons, or printers' flowers have been added, sometimes being printed more than once to create layers of ink and colour.

Each print is totally unique, and produced in a variable edition of 100 copies onto archival 145gsm Zerkall mould-made paper. Hand signed and numbered by the artists.

John Booth (b. 1984) is a London-based artist best known for his graphic works layered with vivid colour and texture. Working across mediums, Booth’s practice spans ceramics, textile design and illustration, drawing inspiration from artists including Karel Appel and Betty Woodman as well as from retro children’s playgrounds and postmodern Italian designers.

Simon Goode (b. 1983) is one of the founders and partners of London Centre for Book Arts, whose practice encompasses all aspects of printing and book arts, with a focus on letterpress printing and hand bookbinding.
