This book contains a selection of wood type sorts from the collection at London Centre for Book Arts. They have all one thing in common; a second face cut into the reverse, or the foot, of the type. Working with limited moveable type, printers would need to improvise on the fly and hand-cut a missing character to complete a job. A damaged H becomes an S, a rarely-used 3, an A – some hastily done, and some almost indistinguishable from the real thing. Printed letterpress at LCBA in 2019 in an edition of 75 copies.
