INTERMEDIATE BOOKBINDING: Drum Leaf Binding 13/06/2026
An ideal workshop for those with a little bookbinding experience, and to build upon skills and techniques learned in Introduction to Bookbinding 1–3. All materials and tools provided.
The Drum Leaf is an elegant hard-cover book structure, ideal for artists and designers. As it is assembled by adhering folded sheets, the book can be made directly from prints, drawings, or photographs. The binding opens neatly, lying completely flat when fully open—a technique perfectly suited for making at home.
The workshop will be led by Simon Goode, co-founder of the London Centre for Book Arts. Simon teaches book binding and printing, and is a Lecturer in Graphic Design Communication at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts London. He is co-author of Making Books: a guide to creating hand-crafted books by the London Centre for Book Arts (Pavilion Books, 2017) and a contributor to Books: Art, Craft and Community (Ludion, 2021).
Upon completion, participants will be qualified to become members and access the unique facilities at LCBA to work independently on their own projects.
