|Meaningful Mutations: Record Covers 1975–82
135 x 210 mm
If I were to admit my affection for style, what would you think of me? Should I lower my volume? Have I stirred the sceptic in you? Or perhaps you consider this admission to be clichéd? Only.
I've scratched around in my shallow digs in search of an apology. and I'm sorry, I'm unable to find one: the only place to start is here, acknowledging that my style-crush is real. It is my shiny compulsion. And even though I suspect I'm not alone in this affection, through revealing my hand I hope to explain.
Meaningful Mutations is a collection of 8 essay-fictions on 8 album covers of the 2oth-century. Written in the mode of an extended caption, the texts pursue the cultural landscapes in which these graphic artefacts were created.
