Suitable for beginners or those who have completed Introduction to Bookbinding 1 & 2. All materials provided.

Learn how to create handcrafted books from experts at the London Centre for Book Arts.

During this workshop participants will learn how to create by hand two variations of an exposed spine binding: the Link Stitch and French Link Stitch. As the name indicates, these bindings have exposed spines that show off the intricacies of the stitching work usually left hidden behind the case.

These books are ideal for presenting work, sketchbooks, gifts, or as the basis for artist books.

On completion of the workshop participants will leave with their own hand bound book and the skills to make more at home using minimal equipment.

Introduction to Bookbinding 3 is the third in a four-part series of introductory bookbinding workshops at London Centre for Book Arts. You are encouraged, but not required, to take all four workshops in order. For a complete beginner, taking all four workshops in order will give you a good foundation in bookbinding.
