Foil blocking is a unique process of applying metallic or 'foil' effect on the printing surface using a technique similar to letterpress. Used most commonly on book covers and packaging, foil blocking produces a striking finish that is impossible to achieve using other printing techniques.
Participants will learn how to:
Prepare artwork for making into plates
How to set up and register your work in the press
How to get the best results from a wide variety of substrates
The correct and safe use of the press.
On completion of this class, participants will be able work independently on the foil blocking presses by purchasing a Studio Pass.
All materials and tools provided, but participants are welcome to bring along your own papers and other materials to test with.
